  1. So…I’ll be that guy to ask the question. Having never been to a meet and not knowing how meets operate, how do I attack the meet style lifts?

    • I’m sure others with more experience than I will have better input, but one of the general rules of thumb that I’ve heard a lot is:

      “A lift you know you can make. A lift you think you can make. A lift you hope you can make (PR).”

      Also, in the spirit of this being “meet style,” I’ll go ahead and declare 235/275 openers now.

    • Probably my worst nightmare as far as weightlifting attempts. If only WL meets operated like EMOMs. Will just have to use this as a learning experience.

      • Ummmm yea this “comp style” mind fucked us all by the looks of it. Guess its good I’m a exerciser and not a weightlifter!

  2. Agreed with above. You definitely want to hit your opener. One thing to think about is the jumps. I prefer to go for 5kg jumps which makes my opener very makeable and makes my final lift a pretty different lift, and a PR attempt. This all depends on how you train. Get good and loose and let it fly!

    I could easily be upset about this, but in hind sight this is a 40lb increase on my total, and 20lbs on each lift from last time we did this.

    BBG: 1) 225x, 225x, 225 *I was off today. Max is 245 but I think using an older bar that doesn’t spin as fast was part of my problem.

    2) 275, 285x, 285ox *I started lower than I planned considering how the snatch went. Max is 300. Just an off day.

    Cond: DND dropped a 45# bumper on my foot getting my bar set up for s2oh. I’m done with this day.

    PRed both snatch and clean/jerk today with 231 and 286. Felt really good today. Not truly meet style but I was feeling good and I couldn’t pass up a chance to go heavy.

    Conditioning: 1:30 – 1:30 – 1:35 – 1:37 – 1:40. Went a little slower on the run to make sure all C2B were UB, the GTOH was a grind.
