Back to the observations on Monday (blogging rule #1: don’t waste your words on a Saturday post, even if you actually post it Friday).

We haven’t had many ridiculous feats of strength lately, so I thought I’d put up two of the best from the last couple weeks.

>94kg National Champion, Jared Fleming – 67″ Box Jump:

>Paul Estrada – 305# Snatch Complex (low-hang, hang):

WOD 130803:

BBG

1) 15 minutes to establish a 1RM Snatch

2) 15 minutes to establish a 1RM Clean & Jerk

Strength

15 minutes to establish a 3RM Front Squat

Conditioning

“2007”

Row 1k

-then-

5 rounds of:

25 Pull-ups
7 Push Jerks 135/85#

For time.

*12:00 time cap. This is a STRICT cap. The volume of pull-ups in this piece could be injurious for anyone needing more than 12:00. Do NOT go over this cap (yes, I know the cap at the Games was 15:00 – I don’t care).

  1. Liza will be here to workout with me on Saturday… I actually don’t like you right now for this conditioning. I’ll assume she feels the same. 😉

  2. M/27/170#/NorCal

    BBG
    1) 220# I got 230# locked out OH but fell in front on the way up.
    2) 275# PR! 5#pr

    Strength
    1) 270#

    Conditioning
    11:49rx

  3. Snatch) 110kg bad day
C&J) 140kg no pain in hip flexor
    Front squat) 140kg 2 reps at 145kg
Cond) decided that since I competed in a small in house throwdown Wednesday night, I would take it a little easy with this one. I got 3 pull-ups into the 5th round. Nothing felt weak or tired, just a lot of soreness through both of my shoulders. Was good to sit pretty consistent with the sets I was doing but I guess that’s the name of the game right! No more weightlifting meets or throw downs now until end of September so should be some solid weeks of training

  5. Snatch 92.5kg – 3.5kg under pr, getting more consistent at top end %s.
C+J 117.5kg – this is where it all went wrong. loaded up 120kg which I have been making alright the last few weeks (I’m stronger at cleans than jerks), caught the bar at the bottom, rocked backwards and found myself falling under the bar. Kept my hands under it to save my ribs and pretty much took the weight through my wrists and thumbs. Not very fun.

Took myself for a word in the changing room and after 5mins decided to attempt to bash on with the front squats. 120kg with a substantial amount of pain in the loosest rack position ever. Binned it there.

Gutted I miss 2007. May have to sneak it in sometime when recovered.

  6. 1) 245
    2) 305
    S) 325×1 / 315×2 (bad)

    1RM Sn: 145/155/165F/165F/165# (-10 PR)
Any time I fail on the snatch, it’s in front of me. FML.

    1RM C&J: 195/215/225# – went for and failed 235# which would have been a +5# PR

    3RM FS: 215/235/245/250# – +15# PR

    “2007”: 3 rds + 15 PUs – Hi-Rep pull-ups are not a friend to me…lost butterfly by R2 and hand started to rip.

    2) 90…missed the clean w/95

    Cond – 2 rds + 15 pull ups

  31. It was a bust all together.
    BW: 152lb
    PR Snatch: 185#
    PR C&J: 225#

    Yesterday (08/03/13)
Snatch 155# , failed 165# numerous time and almost had a freak accident because elbows cant lockout, shoulders are fried as well.

C&J only got up to 185#, any overhead shit was pretty much a bust, and clean up to 205#, failed at 215#

Overall I was pretty embarassed because my teammates were making PRs here and there, and I had to skip the 3RM FS & the metcon due to physical and mental drain. Any help/tips besides resting on sunday would be greatly appreciated. I dont think Im overtrained but for some reason, any quick lockout on my elbow is getting hard. Shoulders are also weak.
Anyway, congrats to all of yous who hit PRs

  32. 1) 125#
    2) 135# – shoulder, neck and upper back are all sore, limited movements – can’t jerk.

  33. Snatch tied PR of 245, got under 255 then failed

Clean and jerk cleaned 325 missed the jerk, PR is 340. Maybe another day.

Front Squat 405*3 felt good. Guess I have to get a new 1RM front squat.

2007: 4 rounds + 5 pullups (used a fatty pullup bar, poor decision, grip smoked)

  36. Lost a lot of time yesterday due to the gym’s 31 Heroes WOD going on and lack of space.

    *Absolutely horrible day of pullups.
